We must get back to our connection with Nature – Kevin Andre

Kevin Andre looked at me with eyes that defied his mere 21 years on this planet. “So you’re asking me what I want to say to young people about life?”

…he mused before taking a minute to reflect again on my question.

“You know, I grew up with a lot of my friends who were tempted by the temptations of the Cartels. One by one they began disappearing.”

Kevin André is a twenty-one-year-old Mexican male who has now emigrated to Washington State on the West Coast of the United States. He is now heading to Everest Basecamp. He came here because a woman whom he followed on Instagram, posted her experience of the Himalayas, and Kevin decided that it was time for him to experience it for himself.

As we drank coffee sitting in the garden adjoining our hotel, I asked Kevin questions ranging from racism, the struggle of youth, his relationship to his father after his parents’ divorce and finally, are there any reflections he had on finding genuine happiness.
