I came to this part of the world looking to broaden my knowledge in the science of Yoga as well as observe the rituals of devotees’. Quite often I was astounded by sereneness of a moment, the many open acts of kindness bestowed upon me by strangers, and most of all a deep down wisdom and willingness to explore the topic of what is it, that defines the Human Experience.
The places and people described here are a homage to these heartfelt teachings.
The experience from these interactions has taught me to open my heart!
Little did we know, we were to get a taste of what the locals deal with every day. Landslides and death.
We passed by expedition porters as the valley became steeper on both sides. The side walls towered above us. It was easy to see the danger of landslides occurring here ….
The valley of Sotikhola offered beautiful vistas of greenery, butterflies of numerous colors and it’s people who went about their day living and working off the land.
Our bus that would take us over all the bumps and speed past anyone who was in our way. It was only 136km, but it would take a whopping nine hours to complete.

Late Monsoon rains have caused major rock slides in the Manuslu area, with trekkers being evacuated by helicopter and Sherpa’s risking lives to carry equipment through the affected areas. My plans to explore this area are now looking doubtful…
